Undergraduate Summer Placement Scheme
Scheme details for 2025 (No longer taking applications)
The scheme offers six-weeks research placements from Monday 7th July – Friday 15th August 2025, to four students who are studying at a UK or Republic of Ireland university for their undergraduate bachelor degree, are in their penultimate year of study, and do not have previous significant research experience (equivalent to at least four weeks or more full time). The summer placements are suitable for those studying psychology, cognitive sciences, neuroscience or a related discipline, and are considering postgraduate study. Due to visa restrictions, non-UK citizens and non-Irish citizens studying at a Republic of Ireland university are not eligible for the scheme.
Placement students will join a current research group and work in a shared office at the MRC CBU. Students will receive a stipend calculated using the National Living Wage of £12.21 per hour, which will be paid at the end of the placement. Students will also have the opportunity to rent accommodation from Downing College in central Cambridge, free-of-charge.
This is a fantastic opportunity for interested and motivated students to:
- get hands on research experience
- acquire and develop a range of skills
- interact with fellow summer placement students, postgraduate students and research staff
Further details of the scheme, eligibility and how to apply are available in the Application Guidelines.
