Data Protection and Open Data
The MRC CBU is committed to upholding the principles of data protection and data subject rights described in the Data Protection Act (2018). Any personal data you share with us will always be processed lawfully and stored securely. You will always be told how your data will be used, who will have access to it, and how it will be stored. Your personal data will never be shared with any other third parties without your explicit consent. Wherever possible we will honour all requests to exercise data subject rights, but we reserve the right to exercise the exemptions allowed for research data (for example under article 89 of the EU GDPR, or part 6, schedule 2, para 25 of the UK Data Protection Act, 2018) under certain circumstances.
The CBU is equally committed to open science and open data, and wherever possible we will try to make anonymised research data available to the wider scientific community. The data we share in this way will never contain any personally identifiable information, and it will never be possible to identify individual research participants for this data. More information about our open science policies can be found here.
