Aphasia - a set of acquired language deficits - occurs in approximately one-third of stroke survivors, affecting their ability to communicate efficiently and their overall quality of life. A novel therapy was introduced by Conroy et al. (2018), to address the most pervasive symptom in post-stroke aphasia: word-finding difficulties (anomia). 

My research will involve a clinical trial to investigate the new therapy’s effect in a large-scale stroke population. The study will also involve the use of fMRI to investigate the neural correlates of the treatment, as well as the neural mechanisms of recovery in post-stroke aphasia.

My PhD is supervised by Ajay Halai and Matt Lambon Ralph, and is funded by the ESRC DTP.
