I am a post-doctoral Research Associate in the Hearing Group led by Bob Carlyon and a member of the broader Cambridge Hearing Group.
My research interests are in auditory perception and, more specifically nowadays, in auditory perception by recipients of cochlear implants. My past and present research topics include perception of pitch, of acoustic modulations and of speech, context effects and within-individual variability of people’s responses to sound, listening effort, early development of sensory responses, and plasticity related to cochlear implant stimulation. I investigate these topics using experimental approaches with human participants including psychophysics, direct electrical stimulation, physiological measures (EEG, implant telemetry, pupillometry) and mathematical modelling.
In my main project at MRC CBU, I investigate changes in auditory perception that occur during the first months after someone receives a cochlear implant in adulthood. This project is funded by a Discovery grant from the Royal National Institute for Deaf People.
