Huge congratulations to MRC CBU’s Andrea Kusec, who is one of the winners of the 2020 University of Cambridge Vice-Chancellor’s Social Impact Award. The award, sponsored by Cambridge Hub and Stephen Toope, aims to recognise and celebrate exceptional achievement in social impact amongst Cambridge students. Andrea was nominated for her 3 years of volunteer work at Addenbrooke’s with people with a brain injury, her efforts in fundraising events for Headway Cambridge, and the Epilepsy Society UK, and for consulting on a horticultural therapy program for individuals with a brain injury.
Rather than an in-person ceremony, Andrea met Stephen Toope virtually (alongside other award winners) to discuss her motivation for improving support for people with a brain injury, difficulties associated with improving this care, and plans going forward to help those with a brain injury receive the much needed care they need. Cambridge Hub provides ongoing support for award winners to help achieve their social impact goals.
Andrea said “it is humbling to be offered the Vice-Chancellor’s Social Impact Award and be recognised alongside such inspiring students. I am excited to highlight how to support people with a brain injury – everyone deserves a #RightToRehab”
