Today we take occupancy of the new extension to the MRC CBU, the South Pole! It has been designed to provide the space to take in even more talented researchers to investigate cognition and the brain, how it changes across the lifespan and how it can sometimes go wrong. The South Pole is a two-storey extension tucked away at the end of the existing South Wing. There will be space for up to 72 people as well as small meeting rooms and a kitchen, with great views of the garden. Come and visit.
It has taken more than three years from the original idea to today, and it is going to provide us with more space and opportunity than we had ever imagined. Thanks to Gary Chandler, Matt Davis and too many others to be named for making it possible, and the forbearance of staff and students moved around like chess pieces over the past year.
