The CBU’s Tom Manly will be talking at the British Science Festival’s “Who are you? The Psychology of Consciousness” session in Aberdeen on Friday 7th September. This sold-out event, aimed at a general public audience, will examine the various ways that we use the term conscious, from basic registration of what is going on around us through to a sense that there is an ‘us’ inside our bodies willing and causing things to happen. Tom is also stepping down from his year as president of the British Science Association’s Psychology Section. Speakers at the event also include the former CBU scientist Daniel Bor, who has a new book “Ravenous Brain: How the New Science of Consciousness Explains Our Insatiable Search for Meaning” out next week!
