Application procedure for postgraduate research studentships

All applications must be submitted via the University of Cambridge admissions process.

Please note that there is no separate form for applying to us specifically, nor for applying for MRC studentship funding. In your application you should name the MRC Cognition & Brain Sciences Unit as the Dept. you wish to be considered by, and the University Board of Graduate Studies will forward your application to us. Our course code is NUAPBL22.

You may find the information on our guidance letter useful, along with our full Graduate Studies booklet, which describes all our current research and the supervisors currently considering taking students.

Once you have submitted your application, please inform us by emailing grad-admin@mrc-cbu.cam.ac.uk to ensure that we know that it is on the way (very occasionally applications can go astray in the system so this helps us keep track of things).

Online applications

You can apply online via the University of Cambridge website.

Paper applications

Application forms can be downloaded from the University of Cambridge website.

Deadline and interview dates

Applications for October 2009 are no longer being accepted.

Details of applying for the October 2010 entry are now finalised, and our closing date for Studentship applications is 18th December 2009. However, please note that in order to meet the deadlines for certain University funding - eg Gates USA scholarships - you may need to submit your application much earlier than this. You should check all funding deadlines on the University Graduate funding pages.

It is planned that MRC CBU Studentship interviews will take place in January/February.

MPhil study

Please note that although occasionally we have taken students for the MPhil (by research, not taught), we do not normally do so. If you do wish to discuss this option please contact your potential supervisor directly or email grad-admin@mrc-cbu.cam.ac.uk.
