We warmly congratulate CBU Director, Professor Matthew Lambon Ralph, on being appointed Doctor Honoris Causa by the University of Málaga in recognition of his outstanding international contributions to the understanding, diagnosis, and treatment of language disorders and aphasia.
During the ceremony, the Rector of the University of Málaga, Teodomiro López Navarrete, turned to the words of the eminent Spanish neuroscientist Santiago Ramón y Cajal, who once described the brain as “the greatest continent to explore.”
In conferring this honour to Professor Lambon Ralph, he reflected, the University was “welcoming one of that continent’s finest cartographers – a scientist whose rigor, creativity, and devotion have steadily widened the frontiers of human knowledge”.
As colleagues at the CBU, we are delighted to see Professor Lambon Ralph’s work acknowledged at this level. His research has been transformative in shaping contemporary models of language and semantic cognition, while also delivering meaningful clinical impact for individuals living with aphasia.
The nomination, promoted by the Faculty of Psychology and Speech Therapy at the University of Málaga, reflects the global reach and enduring significance of his scholarship. This honour highlights not only academic excellence, but also the vital bridge between neuroscience, clinical practice, and patient outcomes.
Since 2014, Professor Lambon Ralph has played a pivotal role in ongoing collaborations between the University of Cambridge and the University of Málaga.
We extend our sincere congratulations on this well‑deserved recognition.
