The MRC Chief Eexecutive Award Scheme recognises contributions from employees for outstanding effort and commitment to both their work and the MRC. For the third year running, a tremendous number of nominations have been received from across the organisation. This is a great achievement and recognition of the contribution made by staff to the success of the MRC. Nominees have been shortlisted for each category of the awards, and Fionnuala Murphy, CBU post-doc scientist has been shortlisted in the awards for 2014, in the category of ‘Respect’. Her nomination reads “Fionnuala is very knowledgeable, passionate and influential at the Unit on issues of equality and representation. The activities she undertakes go well above and beyond the requirements of her post. The active steps taken by Fionnuala in encouraging women candidates have been widely acknowledged as contributing to the appointment of the first female Director of CBU.” .
