Abstract:
This paper responds to a position paper on the control of arm movements. It questions the relevance of positing control strategies without considering higher level behavioural influences. The minimum-jerk model of Wann, Nimmo-Smith and Wing (1988) is introduced as a possible criterion that impinges on human movement and has clear predictive merit.
