MMN 2006 conference: Keynote lectures

The following distinguished scientists made keynote presentations at the conference (listed alphabetically):

Dorothy Bishop
Department of Experimental Psychology
University of Oxford
Oxford UK

Prof Bishop's work on developmental language disorders has made a tremendous impact on both scientific and clinical aspects of this field. The title of her talk was "Using MMN to investigate language/literacy impairments: seven lessons learned the hard way.".

John Duncan
MRC Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit
Medical Research Council
Cambridge UK

Dr Duncan is renowned for his work on selective attention and frontal lobe functions. Dr Duncan gave a talk on "Attention in the Brain".

Risto Näätänen
Department of Psychology

University of Helsinki FINLAND

The input of Prof Näätänen into the MMN research certainly needs no introduction. He spoke on "The Mismatch Negativity (MMN) 2006: Where is the Big Fish?".

Israel Nelken
Department of Neurobiology
The Alexander Silberman Institute of Life Sciences
Hebrew University ISRAEL

Dr Nelken and his colleagues have done ground-breaking work on cellular mechanisms of sound processing in the brain. Dr Nelken gave a talk on "From Single-Neuron Responses to MMN: Bridging the Gap"

Charles E. Schroeder
Cognitive Neuroscience and Schizophrenia Program
Nathan S. Kline Institute for Psychiatric Research
USA

In his inspiring research work, Dr Schroeder integrated probably all available methods to define the neural circuits and dynamics of multisensory perception in its interaction with other cognitive processes.
