Abstract:
This progress report summarises the second year's work of six organisations participating in Esprit Basic Research Action 3207 (ACTS). The purpose of the project is (a) to develop an auditory model for speech stimuli, (b) to develop a connectionist recogniser that operates on the output of the auditory model, and (c) to determine whether this auditory/connectionist recogniser is in some way better than traditional recognition systems. The Annexes contain documentation for the auditory model and papers published from project work.
